The Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” is coming in Spring 2025 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this silhouette. This news suggests we're getting a revival of one of the original and fan favourite Air Jordan 5 colourways, which hasn't had a release in the Nike Air brand since 2016. The “Black Metallic Reimagined” version is one of the most anticipated Jordan Brand releases for next week and we're excited to see more detailed photos circulating the internet.
Part of the Jumpman’s Reimagined series, this AJ5 sneaker pays homage to the original 1990 design but with some upgrades. Originally launched in 1990, the Air Jordan 5 was famously worn by Michael Jordan during the 1990 All-Star game. It stood out with its big tongue featuring reflective silver panels. The “Black Metallic” was one of four original colourways from that year and remains a sought after classic.
Branded with a "Reimagined" badge, these kicks come with classic white laces, just like the ones MJ used, plus a fresh update on the nubuck overlays. The textile edges will likely sport a reflective 3M finish. The rest of the sneaker is expected to stick with the original design's authentic tooling.
Mark your calendars for 8th February 2025, when the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” drops through SNKRS and Jordan retailers worldwide, expected to retail at £190. With its significance, expect it to be released via a raffle as well.
