Elevate Your Rotation with the Dover Street Market & New Balance 991

Legendary concept store and multi-brand retailer Dover Street Market is no stranger to collaboration. In fact, the store, owned by Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe, has initiated many of them since its opening, with Nike and Vans amongst their collaborative partners. Now, the boutique is set to team up with the brand of the moment, New Balance, for a super-clean take on one of the brand’s most famous silhouettes. Images of the collaborative Dover Street Market x New Balance 991 have now surfaced on social, so here’s what to expect from the collab.

Originally teased via a very blurry promo image, it was hard to picture exactly what the DSM x New Balance 991 was going to look like, but thankfully, clearer images have since emerged. Said to celebrate 40 years of manufacturing in the UK, the pair pays homage to New Balance’s history by way of picking the 991, which is made in the brand’s Flimby factory. The silhouette, which has been around since 2001, is a staple for many sneakerheads and is known for its comfort (which comes from its ABZORB midsole) and dad shoe aesthetic.

The DSM x NB 991 arrives in New Balance’s classic “Grey” colour blocking and famed suede and mesh construction, which comes paired with “Sail” leather overlays for a premium touch. DSM branding can be spotted on the tongue and heel, and a hint at the 40th anniversary celebrations can be seen on the underside of the tongue tab. The sole features New Balance’s usual comfy tech, with an ABZORB midsole and Ndurance rubber outsole ensuring a smooth ride.

The “Grey” Dover Street Market x New Balance 991 is expected to release on April 14 at Dover Street Market stores and online, and is likely to be a very quick sell-out.
