My current favourite pair is my Melody Ehsani x Nike Jordan 1 Mids. It should be impossible for me to choose one pair but it actually isn’t. There’s just something about that shoe that makes it different than my other pairs. If you’re following my Instagram account you may already be aware of the fact that I LOVE colours, especially on a good pair of sneakers.
The Melody’s are mismatched (one green and one orange) which I find bold and insanely cool. The shoes are emblemed with a gold watch which I adore. Besides all of this, the shoes are a walking poem with small quotes all over it. I like when the shoes I wear have a story and that is truly the case with these.
I played basketball from the age 7-15 so I guess I was drawn to streetwear and sneakers early without thinking of it much. The first pair of Nike’s that I went and copped with my own money was in High School. It was a pair of Air Force 1 Low Tops. I remember going with my mom and I was so proud the next day going to school. I wore them literally every day, even when it was snowing outside.
I think I had a few different phases before reaching the point where I am right now. I’ve had a Nike Huarache phase, then I was a huge fan of the Puma x Rihanna Creepers which I had in every colourway. After that, I reached the Yeezy 350 stage. I guess I was drawn to the fact that I could have something different on my feet when style, especially as a teenager, can tend to be relatively uniform. My first relatively hyped pair of Nike’s were the Air Force 1 “Roc’a’fella” and the Sean Wotherspoon 1/97. Since then, I’ve been mostly drawn to Nike.
I’m really sad I couldn’t buy the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 MCA but they were never released in women’s sizes anyway (unfortunately a regular struggle!) so I guess it would’ve been impossible either way.
I think it’s tricky for everyone these days but my best advice would be; do something you’ve always wanted to do, but never had time to before this situation occurred. I haven’t read anything that wasn’t non-fiction or scientific literature since I started University, regardless of the fact I majored last summer (2019).
I opened a book for the first time in ages and started reading which gives me a feeling of calmness. I’ve also just ordered some paint to try and extend my creative skills. I think you can get caught up in the social media world quickly in a negative way if you don’t find stuff to give into the “real world”.
I guess the above question kind of answered that, but besides that; I go on walks with my dog, listen to music and watch a lot of series/movies on Netflix. I try and relax and get the best out of it, exploring new things, even though I feel like I’m being tested a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a very homey person and I enjoy my time alone and rest. Still, I’m a social butterfly which means I both love and need spending time with my family and friends. I think we’ll all try and be more social when we get on the other side of this.
Do not limit yourself. Believe in yourself and your aspirations, because if you don’t believe in it, you can’t convince others to. I started @sallyssneakers January 2019 and now, a year and a few months after, I’m close to having 140.000 followers without even showing my face. I graduated with my Psychology Major Summer 2019. Never in a million years did I think I would get to this point and I still have faith that I will one day be working with Nike on my own design. Because well, if I don’t believe in it myself, it won’t happen.
