It’s that time again when a pair of Michael Jordan’s game-worn sneakers are about to go up for auction. Basketball fans and sneakerheads alike idolise the Jumpman himself, and Jordan memorabilia is known to sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction. Back in May, a pair of AJ1 Chicago’s worn by Michael in 1985 sold for a whopping $560,000!
This time around the pair up for auction really are one-of-a-kind, as they’re the specially modified pair that were created to ease the pain of MJ’s fractured left foot as he returned to play during his 1986 season!
The beautifully-aged pair are decked out in the legendary “Chicago” look, which is probably the most in-demand Jordan 1 colorway ever. If this isn’t enough, the pair are signed by Michael Jordan himself for a personal touch. We’ve got no doubt that these are set to be snapped up by a serious collector!
High-end auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll will begin the auction on the 22nd July, with the starting bid set at $100,000. If past listings of this calibre are anything to go by, these should sell for upwards of $500,000! While that’s a serious amount of cash, a pair like this with immense collectible value will only rise in years to come!
If you’re looking to join the bidding war for Michael Jordan's injury-modified Air Jordan 1 Chicagos, you better have some seriously deep pockets! In the meantime, keep it locked right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest footwear news and release dates as they’re unveiled, and while you’re here check out the upcoming PSG x Air Jordan 4!
