After the duo unveiled their recent take on the NB550 retro basketball silhouette set to launch much later in the year, Boston-based footwear label New Balance is going full throttle once again with their favourite Japanese fashion designer Ryota Iwai to release something much sooner. Revising the R_C2 casual running sneaker they introduced back in 2019 at the sportswear giant's Tokyo Design Studio, the latest AURALEE x New Balance R_C2 iterations accommodate neutral tones, and rumour has it that devoted enthusiasts of the low-key Japanese brand are already gearing up for the highly-anticipated drop.
Being one of several independent brands that proudly showed up at Paris' digital Fashion Week last year, Ryota's elegant and modern innovations have garnered a significant level of hype. Here we see the R_C2 done up in two colorways, both contrasting to a slight degree, yet very well in line with AURALEE's Spring/Summer 2021 minimalist collection.
Very much like the former, these co-branded R_C2s possess weather-resistant benefits, all thanks to the Gore-Tex lining throughout. The first indulges in a tonal cream colour palette, featuring soft hues of beige, tan, and mauve. Still wrapped in luxe leather, supple suede and ultra-breathable mesh overlays, the latter pair opts for a stealthy makeover with dusky shades of brown and green. The lateral and medial side panels then flaunt translucent TPU cages embedded within New Balance's "N" logo, and the split ENCAP Reveal midsole beneath the feet ensures that cushioning isn’t compromised for style.
The AURALEE x New Balance R-C2 is arriving earlier than expected at select retailers globally so keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest New Balance trainer release dates, news, teaser and plenty more, and in related news, the AURALEE x New Balance 550 arrives with a vintage makeover!
