How do they fit?
Because of its large midsole unit, the New Balance 57/40 gives the impression that it has a wide fit. However, the upper has a more narrow setup especially towards the toe box, so true to size is the only way to go!
Are they comfortable?
The 57/40 definitely offers comfortable cushioning underneath, but I would pick a New Balance 992 instead if I know I'm going to be walking all day.
How do you style them?
I cannot say no to chunky sneakers, they give off a strong fashion-forward look that goes with most of my outfits, mainly Carhartt Cargos.
How do you clean them?
I'm very careful with how I clean my New Balance 57/40s because they're made from mesh and suede, so I use the Jason Markk special sneaker cleaning kit.

My favourite colourway is the DAHOOD x New Balance 57/40 "Yellow Green". I was in Hong Kong for holiday in March, and luck was definitely on my side because Mong Kok-based footwear hub DAHOOD launched the collab and was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair.

Most people go true to size on the New Balance 57/40, but I've got wide feet, so half a size up was the only way for me.
Are they comfortable?
There's no questioning that the 57/40s are one of the most comfortable kicks in my rotation. The lightweight mesh across the upper gives the optimal airflow that I need on a hot summer day.

I'm a huge fan of chunky sneakers, and that's why copping these were a no-brainer for me! I love wearing these with oversized suits, so a pair of wide trousers to go with my pairs is a definite win for me.

All you need to clean the New Balance 57/40 is to follow this simple method. Use a soft sponge dipped into warm soapy water, and your kicks will look as good as new! Do not ever use a hard bristle brush on suede!
What's your favourite colourway?
I've just added the New Balance 57/40 "Prism Purple" colourway to my collection, and I must say that it's probably the best iteration so far. It has a simple off-white coloured base and contrasting purple hits, no bold co-branding details from collaborators, it's simple but beautiful.

How do they fit?
Like most other New Balance pairs, I find the 57/40 fits true to size. They fit similarly to the 990v5 but they’re a little narrower so if you have wider feet consider going up half a size so it doesn’t feel tight across the toes.
Are they comfortable?
They’re really comfortable! Updating the classic 574, the 57/40 keeps some of the retro design elements but updates it for a modern audience. This includes packing it full of technology to ensure a comfortable fit all day long.

Because this silhouette uses good quality suede, I’m a little more careful when cleaning them. I will usually use a cleaning solution and a brush to carefully clean most of the shoe, but will also use a special suede brush to carefully clean the rest.
What's your favourite colourway?
My favourite colourway is the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 57/40 "Green". I love a colourway with a story behind it and this is exactly that. Bricks & Wood were the first brands to collaborate on this silhouette and they really made it their own!
