Nike and Rich Holland have joined forces to bring new energy to the brand's European headquarters in the Netherlands. The two have worked together collaboratively to create a skate landscape outside the building complete both skateboarding obstacles and a range of well thought out sculptures.
Holland, a Birmingham UK born creative, worked directly with the brand to design a space that doesn't adhere to traditional skatepark tropes. For instance, the transitional elements are formed into irregular shapes such as a wave-like tunnel, a kidney blob and a circular two-levelled ledge, giving skaters a unique experience.
In addition, Madrid born artist and sculptor Ruben Sanchez has created a playful addition to add to the park entitled "The Bounce". This sculpture shows a freeze-frame of a giant bouncing ball going down the blocks of the skatepark. The colourful trail left by the black and silver basketball sports bright green, blue, orange and pinks hues and works as a metaphorical tool to showcase how sports can release dopamine.
