It seems that Nike is digging deep in their pockets during the Coronavirus Pandemic because yet again, they're donating to COVID-19 relief efforts. Previously, the Oregon-born brand donated over $15m to charities, have crafted masks and liaised with medical experts to ensure that they meet all the PPE requirements. Now, Nike has donated 30,000 pairs of the Nike Air Zoom Pulse to healthcare workers in Barcelona, Chicago, Belgium, London, LA, Memphis, Milan, NYC and Paris.
This isn't it though, Nike also partnered with non-profit charity Good360 to donate over 140,000 pieces of clothing, footwear and equipment across the globe. Nike isn't alone; joining the sportswear giant is the likes of adidas, New Balance and Burberry, who have all helped out during the pandemic. Both adidas and New Balance worked to mass produce medical-grade PPE to donate and Burberry donated to the University of Oxford to fund research into a COVID-19 vaccine – which was recently pushed forward to human trials.
With the pandemic seemingly slowing, it seems as though the world is starting to think about how we can come out of the other side of the Coronavirus and start working towards the “new normal”. But for now, with brands like Nike stepping up to help where they can, it seems like the globe is coming together like never before.
