Since its 2012 inception, Virgil Abloh's famed label Off-White has been no stranger to using classical art for inspiration. In the past, we've seen the brand draw influence from the likes of Anton Raphael Mengs, Edouard Manet and most notably, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. This latest capsule further celebrates Caravaggio's famed work with a display of his signature painting "Saint Jerome Writing".
For the unfamiliar, Caravaggio lived in the late 16th and early 17th century and is responsible for painting famous works such as "Madonna of the Rosary" and the "Entombment of Christ". The artist exists today as one of Off-White's most used influences, with all the aforementioned artworks being utilised across garments previously.
The latest collection displays the "Saint Jerome Writing" painting in a black and white print centralised on the chest. The print adorns blacks sweatshirts, hoodies, long sleeves and T-Shirts, with each piece boasting contrasting yellow stripes and borders. The collection echoes Abloh's early works with his Pyrex Vision brand and is no doubt a must cop for any fans of the Illinois born designer. In related news, the Off-White x Nike Blazer Low "White" is Virgil Abloh's wildest sneaker yet.
