We know how some labels always treat a collaboration like a high stakes art auction. PUMA, on the other hand, is not one of them. The iconic German sneaker brand consistently remembers that trainers should actually be fun, and affordable.
Case in point: the PUMA x Pokémon 30th Anniversary collection.

We already knew the "Big Cat" had a soft spot for the Kanto region, but this latest drop leans into the "Day & Night" theme with more precision. Whether you hit the gym every day or you’re just someone who appreciates a solid bit of storytelling on your feet, this lineup hits the mark.
PUMA is currently having a serious moment. Even Austin Butler spent his time on the Caught Stealing set stomping around in Easy Riders. The brand holds a unique spot in the culture; it offers that rare mix of celebrity approval at an acceptable price point.
While the standard range keeps the masses happy, the collaborative efforts are where the brand really flexes. The Pokémon partnership remains its most successful pivot, and for the 30th anniversary, the design team went all out.
You can’t have a Pokémon drop without the face of the franchise. Pikachu spearheads this collection with two distinct looks:
It’s loud, it’s yellow, and it’s exactly what a Pikachu trainer should be. No half-measures here.
The real magic lies in the deep cuts. This isn't just a colour swap; it’s a tribute to the Pokédex.
The Umbreon Fade flips the script on the Pikachu colourway, opting for a dark, moody aesthetic. Look closely at the outsole and you’ll spot yellow glitter; a clever nod to the creature’s glowing rings under a full moon. It’s a sophisticated take on a black trainer that avoids looking like a standard school shoe.
The Mostro Espeon is the standout for the hardcore enthusiasts. Taking the currently trending, spiked sole silhouette and dressing it in baby pink shaggy suede is a masterstroke. It’s weird, it’s aggressive, and it’s perfectly Espeon.
If you prefer your nostalgia served with a side of "quiet luxury," the Mimikyu Inverse is the one. It utilizes a neutral beige palette with subtle black stripes. It’s the most wearable pair of the lot, proving that character inspired footwear doesn't always have to scream at passers by.
Most gaming collaborations end up looking like something you’d find in a bargain bin. This collab, however, feels different. Between the metal charms, the National Dex numbers hidden on the packaging, and the Trading Card Game (TCG) logos, the attention to detail is staggering.
Is this the best Pokémon footwear collection ever released? It’s definitely up there! Better than the high fashion attempts, and certainly more inspired than the lazy logo slapping we see from other sportswear giants.
Preorders have gone live on the PUMA website today. Most pairs (excluding the Nitros) come with a specific character keychain, so you can flex your favourite monster right out of the box.
Don't sleep on these; anniversary drops this good disappear fast!
