It's safe to say that someone at Nike is a big fan of Japanese culture. In the past couple of months, we've seen notable offerings from the Beaverton brand outfitted in Japanese convenience store refreshments, then a recently revealed Dunk Low harvesting inspiration from the art of Japanese gardening. And now, a highly covetable pair has just been revealed by sneaker insider @wavegod_thelegend, the Nike Air Force 1/1 "Nike and The Mighty Swooshers" comes equipped with sci-fi/mecha anime graphics and it's guaranteed to be a huge hit amongst all those Crunchyroll binge-watchers.
This Air Force 1 variant takes on the sportswear giant's "1/1" arrangement – a concept developed by Nike which allows the user to switch the silhouette's panels via a blacked-out velcro base and interchangeable overlays
From heel to toe, each section of the AF1 appears with assorted anime-related illustrations, minus the tongue, laces, Air midsole, and rubber outsole which all opts for standard blue, grey, black and white colours. Starting with the design's showstopper is the sidewall Swoosh logos transformed into mecha robot-reminiscent shape with multiple shades, kinda like a Gundam if you know what that is. This is then followed by heel overlays and Nike tongue labels with highly detailed manga-style eyes, and finalising this Air Force 1:1 are the counterparts exhibiting creepy alien-like drawings, abstract nature visuals, and female anime characters such as a priestess and short-haired pilot in a suit similar to characters from Darling In The Franxx.
