The adidas X Minecraft Collab Kicks off With Not One, but Two Sneakers

adidas is leveling up with a fresh collaboration with Minecraft, the iconic top selling video game. Together, they’re dropping a duo of official sneakers; yes, real life kicks with just the right dose of pixelated glitchiness.

For their debut collaboration, Minecraft and adidas have crafted a fresh take on the classic Handball Spezial sneaker, blending adidas’ storied Three Stripes tradition with design details inspired by Minecraft’s blocky, voxel based universe. There’s also a Minecraft themed Superstar sneaker set to release alongside the Spezial.

The Handball Spezial stands out with smooth black suede accented by shades of purple, a nod to the mysterious Enderman from Minecraft. These neutral black figures only attack if provoked or if you dare to stare into their glowing purple eyes; a detail cleverly woven into the sneaker, with Enderman eyes appearing on the heels and laces. Minecraft enthusiasts will also appreciate the pixelated Three Stripes branding on the sides, paired with Minecraft’s logo and a cheeky "Minecraft was here" tagline.

Adding to its appeal, the Spezial features a removable Velcro lace system, so fans can rock their sneakers lace free if they choose.

Meanwhile, the collaborative Superstar boasts a clean white upper contrasted with pixelated detailing on the Three Stripes and heel, giving the classic silhouette a Minecraft twist. A Creeper inspired lace lock at the forefoot adds a playful touch. While the Superstar retains its signature white and black base, the pixelated overlays bring a unique charm to the design.

It’s refreshing to see Minecraft select the Handball Spezial and the resurgent Superstar for its first adidas collaboration, rather than opting for more expected models like the Samba or Gazelle. The result is a collection that feels both unexpected and perfectly aligned with the game’s adventurous spirit.
