We all agree on one thing about Bruce Kilgore’s Air Force 1: it's a footwear icon. It earned its spot in every wardrobe because of its astonishing capacity to pair with anything. This classic 1980s basketball shoe reached a level of omnipresence that few trainers achieve. For the seasoned collector, the challenge is no longer about styling the silhouette, but deciding which specific construction or colourway truly justifies space in the rotation.
The difficulty, however, appears when the weather turns nasty. When the rain pours and the sleet falls, it becomes harder to justify pulling the Uptown out of the shoe cupboard. Nike’s Sportswear division understands this problem, and the iconic brand constantly offers winter ready revisions to keep the sneaker in play throughout the year. We have seen weatherised editions before; like the various Gore-Tex versions; but this new launch represents the most thorough hard wearing upgrade yet.
For the 2025 holiday season, Nike plans to launch multiple versions of the Air Force 1 Low GTX Vibram. This update to the classic design retains the original look with only minor tweaks, ensuring the shoe remains deeply faithful to its legendary aesthetics. The true innovation sits in the enhanced structure. By the way, don't forget to download The Sole Supplier app to stay on top of all the hottest sneaker drops.
The standard Gore-Tex membrane returns, ensuring the upper remains resistant to water. Crucially, the waterproof fabric now partners with a heavy duty Vibram rubber sole unit underneath. This coupling means the sneaker is entirely capable of handling icy pavements and miserable winter conditions. A reworked, lugged pattern on the outsole dramatically increases grip and traction, while the addition of textured rope laces confirms the shoe’s all weather preparedness.
Nike keeps the initial offering subtle so collectors can easily incorporate these new styles into their existing outfits. The first shipment includes three versatile neutral tones: "Triple Black," "Triple White," and a grounded "Clay Green/Sequoia" combination. These three Gore-Tex/Vibram models are due out for the 2025 holiday season, and you can expect them to retail for around £120 a pair. Want to get notified when these drop?
