With 2021 drawing to a close, we can safely say this year has been a huge and sometimes downright weird year for clothing collaborations. From high-fashion collision courses between Balenciaga x Gucci and Versace x Fendi to odd gaming link-ups between Balenciaga x Fortnite and Gucci x Xbox, the collabs just kept coming. But, according to the 2021 Lyst Year in Fashion Report, one collaboration seemingly shined above all in terms of hype.
If you haven't guessed it already, according to the report Yeezy x GAP is the most hyped clothing collaboration of 2021. After rumours began simmering around May, searches for both brands eventually rose by 320% and 325% by June. I know what some of you are thinking, with Yeezy x GAP literally only releasing the "Round Jacket" and "Perfect Hoodie" so far, it seems a bit of a stretch to call the collaboration "the most hyped" when you take the numbers away from things, but with that said, this link-up seemingly had the fashion world in a chokehold prior to its launch.
Joining Yeezy x GAP in the top five we have, Ivy Park x adidas at number 2 (somehow), The North Face x Gucci in third place, Telfar x UGG taking fourth spot and Balenciaga x Gucci's lastest "Hacking Project" in fifth. In related news, according to Lyst Balenciaga is currently the "world's hottest brand".
