The Nike Air Max 1 has long since been a fan-favourite amongst sneakerheads, and it’s not exactly hard to see why. Introduced by Tinker Hatfield back in 1987, the kicks debuted in a “University Red” colourway and were an instant hit, with plenty of other popular options following in the years after. However, the sneaker detectives amongst us have longed for one particular pair that never made it into production. The original Air Max 1 “Big Bubble” was a production sample from 1986 based on Hatfield’s original sketches. Now set to release to the public for the very first time, this could be one of this year’s biggest releases.
Also displayed in the “University Red” colourway, the kicks feature enlarged Air units within the midsoles, along with classic features such as Nike’s Swoosh logo on either side and Nike Air embroidery on the heels. With no official release date announced, rumours are circulating that the pair will launch on Air Max Day, although this is yet to be confirmed.
