The Nike Air Max 97 has long since been a fan favourite for sneakerheads, so it’s about time that we saw some fresh colourways hitting the market. Unveiled just in time for summer is the Nike Air Max 97 “University Red”, a sneaker that borrows its iconic colourway from the Air Max 1. When Tinker Hatfield first released the AM1 all the way back in 1987, its iconic red and white hues set it apart from the rest of the market, and now those same shades adorned the well-loved AM97.
The AM97 was designed by Christian Tresser and launched in 1997 as Nike’s flagship lifestyle sneaker and remains loved by sneakerheads across the world today. The pair in question are crafted from premium leather and athletic mesh throughout for a robust and durable design, with Nike’s Swoosh logo featured in miniature form on the lateral and medial sides.
Other touches of branding include Swooshes on the tongues and insoles, while pull tabs are located on the tongues and heels to add to the look and make taking these on and off easier than ever before. The look is completed with a whited-out midsole that plays host to the full-length Nike Air Max unit.
If you’re looking to get your hands on this upcoming release then keep it locked in here as we’ll be sharing a release date as soon as one is unveiled. In the meantime browse the rest of our site for other awesome sneaker news like your first look at the Air Jordan 1 Mid Inside Out “Black”!
