Whenever an anime collab hits the newsroom at The Sole Supplier, we get excited. From the recent Yu-Gi-Oh! x Nike Air Max 95 and clothing capsule to 2018's Dragon Ball Z x adidas collection, the sneaker scene loves an anime cultural clash.
The newly leaked Nike x One Piece collection is no exception, and whilst we don't have any officially confirmed first-looks, we're diving into what this collab could looks like for sneakerheads and anime lovers alike.
Unlike previous One Piece sneaker collabs which focused only on specific characters, Nike is cooking up three themed Nike TN Air Max Plus colourways inspired by the Ope Ope, Mera Mera, and Gomu Gomu Fruits, each instead spotlighting some of One Piece’s most iconic powers.
First up, we have the One Piece x Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Mera / Portas D. Ace'. This one is (literally) fire, channeling the legacy of Portgas D. Ace with a molten gradient upper.
If our visions become a reality, we think this one could be a definite fan favourite, perhaps taking inspiration from the previously popular Nike TN Air Max Plus Tiger Orange.
The next rumoured item in the collection is the Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Ope’ / Trafalgar D. Law, bringing deep burgundy accents to the pair.
We think the subtle swirl detailing throughout the upper will mirror the iconic Devil Fruit surface - A subtle nod to the anime for the real One Piece fans out there.
The final item in the collection and with the potential of becoming the main character of the collaboration is the Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Gomu’ / Monkey D. Luffy.
This pair certainly brings all of Luffy's main character energy to the collection. Dressed in a bold red and black colourway that nods to Luffy’s signature look, this colourway echoes the bounce and flex of his Gomu Gomu powers.
Some even better news for One Piece fans, the Nike collab isn’t stopping at sneakers. Word is, a full apparel range is on the horizon, with jerseys, caps, and tees all set to join the crew. Whether the designs will tap into the iconic Devil Fruits is still under wraps, but keep it locked as we'll keep you in the loop as more details surface.
