The Whitaker Group's founder James Whitner is a familiar name with sneakerheads—acknowledged for his collaborations under his self-led streetwear imprints such as Social Status, A Ma Maniere, and APB. With 2022 now well underway, Whitner is reuniting with the Swoosh team to revive a classic basketball silhouette: Penny Hardaway's signature Air Max Penny 1 trainers.
The Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1 is set to debut with a mix of white and grey hues, with black accents adorning less-prominent segments to deliver a pop of contrast.
The co-signed Air Max Penny One does retain its original shape, but what differentiates itself from its predecessors is the Swoosh logo on the side that is interchangeable with sports-inspired versions. The red and yellow Swooshes are a nod to football penalty cards, the white pair with red stitches are inspired by baseball, the neon green for tennis, and the dark red for pigskin footballs.
For now, an official release date for the Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1 is yet to be confirmed. However, if you stay locked in right here at The Sole Supplier, we'll make sure you're ahead of the latest Nike collaborations. On a similar topic, rumours of a Stüssy x Nike Air Max Penny 5 collaboration surface.
