As British fashion designer Paul Smith once said in his 2001 book, "You can find inspiration in everything." And for one of their next Nike SB Dunk Low colourways, the Beaverton brand has paid homage to an iconic Sony camcorder, more specifically the VX1000.
If you're wondering why Nike decided to take influence from this particular piece of tech, there's actually a pretty good reason. Released back in 1995, this camcorder played a major role in skate culture. With its wide-angled fish-eye lens, sturdy build, and user-friendly features, many vintage skate videos were filmed using this legendary device.
Arriving in its signature black and grey colour scheme, the entire Dunk Low is adorned with camcorder terminology. From "REC LEVEL" and "WHT BAL" on the laterals to "SHUTTER SPEED" on the medials, you'll even find "PEAK" just above the white Swoosh detailing as well. Elsewhere, hits of red, yellow, and teal also feature for a pop of contrast, and to round it all off, "0:00:01" is printed onto the custom insoles, finalising the design.
Set to launch via Nike SB's Orange Label skate shops on February 20th, this Nike SB Dunk Low will be exclusive to Europe and Asia. Let us know if you'll be grabbing these at the end of the month, and in related news, the Nike SB Dunk Low "Red Plum" is dropping this summer!
