Debuting this weekend is the inaugural Bad Bunny x Leo Messi x adidas sneaker collection, showcasing the F50 soccer cleat and the Gazelle Indoor alongside a classic adi silhouette which is not slated for public release.
News of this release first started to swirl earlier in the year and earlier this week we finally got confirmation of this iconic linkup. adidas confirmed all the details in a press release, finally giving us some high-quality images and these look like a match made in sneaker heaven!
Here's some info for those of you who have been living under a rock. Why are we so hyped up about this collab? On one side, we have Lionel Messi; widely considered the greatest footballer to ever grace the beautiful game. With a mammoth collection of EIGHT Ballon d'Ors and 44 team trophies, including the World Cup, Copa America, UEFA Champions League, and La Liga titles, Messi stands as the most decorated player in football history.
On the other side stands Bad Bunny aka Benito, a multiplatinum recording artist, and three time GRAMMY winner. Benito was Spotify's most streamed artist worldwide for an impressive THREE consecutive years (2020 to 2022) and set the all time touring record by grossing $435 million in a single calendar year. Let's not forget that he's the guy behind some of the most iconic collabs with adidas, featuring a range of releases under his belt including the iconic Bad Bunny x adidas Forum, the recent adidas Gazelle Indoor Benito.
The collaboration looks fantastic, showcasing both the Gazelle and F50 in a striking gold hue, paying homage to the many trophies Messi has secured during his illustrious football career. The shoes feature signatures from both Messi and Bad Bunny, embellishing the Three Stripes branding. Messi's iconic jersey number (10) is represented as an "X" on the heel, accompanied by co-branding on the tongue.
"Messi's last name has become its own word, a synonym for greatness, courage and heart," Bad Bunny remarked in the press release. “Watching him play with the passion he does is a privilege. I compare the love he feels for his country and his sport to the love I feel for music and Puerto Rico," he added, pointing out how this is an exciting moment for the entire Latin America.
The Leo Messi x Bad Bunny x adidas collection drops on Saturday, 26th October, through the adidas CONFIRMED app and at select adidas stores. Tap the 'Notify me' button to be the first to know when these hit the stores.
