adidas NMD S1 Triple White

While the new NMD S1 hasn’t received the same fanfare as its previous 2016 iteration, it’s still a great innovative addition to the line. There are a number of reasons why the new NMD could be struggling to find its place within the footwork market, but there are even more reasons to get excited about the silhouette. We can see the NMD S1 being a great future retro, so why not get in on the action early with this original pair of “Triple White”?

The sleek midsole from the original NMD has been blown up on the S1, taking cues from the maximalist design language that was so apparent in the footwear scene of 2022. A semi-translucent shell protects the boost foam, with three protruding sections echoing the original support elements from the 2016 release. adidas’ one-piece Primeknit upper is back, along with a set of dual-tone rope laces that match the darker elements of the knit. The outsole tread is composed of stacked-up Trefoil logos, forming together to create aggressive lugs that provide solid traction, instead of the flat rubber webbing that was previously used. The NMD S1 looks to the future of footwear with its design, however, may have lost the sneakerhead of today in the process. That being said, there is always room for innovative thinking, an idea on which the adidas’ Y-3 division is built.
