Pharrell is no stranger to embracing a new silhouette, taking on the fresh NMD S1 from adidas for his next Humanrace collab. The S1 is yet to receive the same fanfare as the original NMD, a drive definitely helped by the addition of the Humanrace moniker. This release leans into sustainable storytelling, a major focus from the German footwear brand, all while bearing the signature Hu design language.
The main talking point on this pair is the introduction of the split motif, a striking feature that separates this pair from the rest of the NMD S1 line-up. The upper is constructed from a wheat canvas, which along with a set of thick rope laces, provides the shoe with a rustic edge. Large lettering spelling out the Humanrace brand can be found in a wavy form, hugging the entirety of the side wall in an assertive fashion. The new midsole tooling has also been split, continuing the distinct blue line that rises up and around the ankle collar. Underneath, the regular trefoil tread pattern can be found in a dark beige, matching the colour palette that commands the front portion of the shoe.
This release from Pharrell x adidas x Humanrace strikes an interesting addition to the current crop of NMD S1s, striking a balance between an equally bold and minimalist design. Find out where to grab your pair by tuning into The Sole Supplier!
