Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS Gel Quantum Zientzia

In 2022 we saw Kiko, ASICS and Hysteric Glamour combine forces on a similar-looking pink edition of the GEL-Quantum Lylia, a shoe that had fans of the Y2K aesthetic in a chokehold. Now, requiring a double-take is the Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-Quantum Zientzia, bearing a toned-down tooling and colour palette that is much easier to fit into the rotation.

The midsole unit is indeed the same as the ’22 Gel Quantum Lylia, a feature that was taken from the GEL-Quantum LEVITRACK, a silhouette created to celebrate the Tokyo Olympics. The classic ASICS sidewall logo can be found here in deep blue, silver centrelines matching the metallic eyestay panelling above. The mesh upper has been given a grid-like finish, with the synthetic panelling adopting a carbon fibre texture that plays into the clinical aesthetic of the Zientzia. Unlike the Lylia, the ASICS branding on this edition is minimal, making way for the unconventional GEL technology on the midsole to hold your attention.

The GEL-Quantum Zientzia is another unconventional addition to the Kiko x ASICS catalogue, a silhouette that will no doubt make it into the wardrobes of Kiko fanatics who are all-too-familiar with the high price point his collaborations bear.
