ASICS taps London-based designer Kiko Kostadinov to deliver a trifecta of ASICS GT-2160 colourways with monotone uppers as a nod to their 2018 GEL-Burz 2 capsule. First introduced in 2011, the ASICS GT-2160 offered a sleek design aesthetic that perfectly harkens back to the brand’s early 2010s running era. Expanding Kiko Kostadinov ’s collaborative portfolio with ASICS, this GT-2160 “Bronze” rendition displays its titular pigment infused with shades of black for an autumn-ready design overhaul.
It’s been a solid 2023 for the ASICS GT-2160, headlining several collaborative ventures, including Dime, Above The Clouds, and Cecilie Bahnsen . This Kiko Kostadinov-approved colourway foregoes the usual mesh and leather construction of the GT-2160 and opts for a bronzine synthetic upper with embossed ASICS stripes and seamless panels for a more streamlined cosmetic. Black shades engulf the inner lining, heel counter, and GEL-equipped midsole to replicate the GEL-Burz 2 collab in 2018. The decoupled rubber outsole with a midfoot shank plate completes this retro-futuristic take on the early 2010s running sneaker.
