Birkenstock expands its open-toe sandal roster with the arrival of the Birkenstock Kyoto. The new silhouette has only been out for a couple of years, but it displays a lot of potential hype. This Birkenstock Kyoto “Nubuck Suede Black” delivers the brand’s exceptional comfort with a modernised upper inspired by the Zürich.
The Birkenstock Kyoto joins the Tokio silhouette as Japanese-inspired models. While classics like Boston and Arizona remain popular, the German footwear manufacturer is open to developing more styles for contemporary fashion enthusiasts. This silhouette takes inspiration from the Zürich but replaces the two metallic buckle straps with one individually adjustable Velcro fastener. The “Nubuck Suede Black” rendition showcases a black fuzzy suede upper base and a nubuck fastener with debossed Birkenstock branding. Two metallic silver rivets adorn the lateral panel for a minimalist design approach. Birkenstock’s signature cork-latex footbed and EVA sole unit complete the makeover.
