Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1906R Green

As the energy around New Balance’s 1906R continues to grow, this collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore is sure to draw another surge of attention towards the silhouette. As seen with the size? drop in February, or the sporadic release schedule of the ‘Protection Pack’ series, love for the silhouette hasn’t wavered. Just as with the brand’s Made in USA line, Teddy Santis has managed to bring along his seemingly flawless toolkit for this 1906R iteration.

Underlaying the entirety of the upper is a thick honeycomb mesh, making these look like they were hand-knitted by the most caring of grandmothers. The NB 1906R’s synthetic leather panelling returns in a mix of dark green and silver, with lime accents dotted throughout that echo the previously mentioned size? edition. The heel cage and ABZORB energy units are swathed in a dark green, contrasting the lighter palette of the upper, while balancing the black outsole underfoot. Similar to the ALD x New Balance 860v2 capsule, a wavy set of laces come threaded onto this 1906R, Santis’ way of adding a contemporary spin to what appears to be a sporty classic. Branding on the pair has also been updated, with the N-LOCK logo using a tightly woven knit instead of the usual canvas, playing into the pair’s handcrafted theme. A final subtle touch comes via a flower emblem on the tongue, giving us an insight into the inspiration behind the design.
