Did you know that the New Balance 2002 didn’t really fly off the shelves because of their high price point? Back in 2010, the NB 2002 was $250 and it was positioned as a luxury shoe. However, thanks to a combination of a redesign and a new name by Tetsuya Shono, manufacturing in Asia and a collab with Salehe Bembury, the NB 2002R has become a hit. Check out one of its latest offerings, the New Balance M2002R “Grey”.
This NB 2002R has a dark grey mesh base showing only on the collar. The rest of the shoe is smooth leather, from base to overlay, in dark grey. Slightly puffed-out black “N” logos are sewn onto the flanks. The white tongue labels show off black NB branding whilst the black insoles are adorned with white NB branding. A light grey midsole with ABZORB cushioning and a black and grey rubber outsole with N-ergy technology wrap up the design of this sneaker.
