Palace and New Balance head back to the drawing board to serve up two tasty editions of the NB 991. Having already tested the waters with the Japanese-favourite NB 580 in ’22, the two are prepped for another round of action on the footwear shelves. Combining New Balance’s careful craftsmanship with Palace’s punchy palette, this edition is all but ready to leave its mark on the 2000s runner.
Whether it’s the bold hits of ultraviolet on the ripstop body or the sharp hits of pink on the webbed panelling, this colourway is anything but shy. Move onto the midsole and mudguard however, and you’ll notice a quick change in direction, with a deep black nubuck and grey leather wrapped around the bottom portion of the upper. We’ve seen this clash before on the cult-favourite Stray Rats x New Balance 991 “Black Grey Purple” from ‘21, proving the silhouette’s ability to play host to the wildest of colourways. Palace co-branding can be spotted throughout, swapping out the traditional set of wordmarks for a vibrant pink embroidery that calls back to the early 2000s era of Mad Hectic collaborations.
These sold out within a matter of minutes when they dropped over on the Palace website earlier this May, so don’t hang about if you want a pair in the collection. The Palace x New Balance 991 “Grey Pink Multi” will be releasing on the New Balance website on the 19th of May, keep it tuned to The Sole Supplier for more information on the drop!
