Kith x Frank Lloyd Wright x New Balance 998 Broadacre City Green Multi

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Kith and New Balance team up, with the two always conjuring up magical collaborations when they do. Having worked on the New Balance 998 before, including the “Shark” edition from 2019 and the “Spring 2” from 2020, this new “Multi” iteration heads off in a more colourful direction.

Featured on the front cover of Issue 39 of Shoes Master, a Japanese footwear magazine, it’s clear that the collaboration has left behind the traditional colour blocking. Avid Kith fans may notice comparisons towards the “Cyclades” editions of the NB 990v2 from last year or even the hybrid NB 997.5 edition before that, both of which boasted a colourful toe and heel that was broken up by a muted mid-section. We’ve yet to receive official photos, so it isn’t clear whether the pair arrives mismatched or whether they are two different shoes entirely. Although judging on Kith’s collaborative history, it’s more likely that the shoes featured on the front cover are just a single edition. Veering off from the previous NB 998 releases, the colour palette is still typical of Ronnie Fieg’s creative output, putting a contemporary twist on this underrated silhouette from New Balance’s 99X series.
