Old-school hoops are back in action as Nike reissues the Air Flightposite One “Black” to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Introduced in ‘99, this futuristic basketball silhouette conceptualised by Eric Avar is the successor to the Foamposite models, characterised by its sleek design inspired by anatomical sketches of the human foot. Popularised by then-NBA superstars like Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, among many others, this Air Flightposite One excels in on-court performance and innovative style.
This colourway sports a blacked-out Foamposite upper, a sturdy material made from heated, moulded polyurethane liquid. The neoprene-like sleeve boasts a hidden zipper on the branded tongue, which reveals the lacing system underneath, similar to Gary Payton’s The Glove. Signature Swoosh logos adorn the lateral forefoot and rear, while Flightposite branding decorates the pull tabs. A metallic silver shank plate bolsters the midfoot for arch support and stability. Zoom cushioning on the forefoot provides a snappy and responsive sensation, complementing the heel Nike Air unit. Wavy treads on the outsole offer consistent traction on and off the playing court.
