Nike Air Max 1 Keep Rippin Stop Slippin

After 15 years, this Air Max 1 is finally making a comeback. Originally released in 2008, the Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin” dropped alongside other contemporary classics like the Air Max 90 “King of the Mountain”. While the “Greatest Hits” pack did get a hybrid retro in 2018, the make-ups were all featured on the Air Max 95 and not their respective silhouettes. Luckily for us, that isn’t the case with this Air Max 1 retro which is based on the Air Safari make-up from 1987. Set to hit the shelves again in 2023, the distinct Safari colour palette looks as eye-catching as it did back in 2008.

Just like last time, the orange toe box and leather lining go hand-in-hand with the safari print, found here on the mudguard and ankle collar. Returning yet again is the pony hair, a rare sight in today’s releases but an appreciated touch for Air Max fans out there, found here underlaying the black leather Swoosh. Toning down the overall appearance is the dark grey midsole, housing an orange Air unit within. “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin” is embroidered onto the heel in orange, adopting the same font style as seen on the originals. Another distinct detail lies underfoot, with a translucent outsole section revealing a playful graphic of a cartoon dog bursting through a brick wall.
