This shoe is a homage to Olympic marathon athlete Steve Prefontaine. A previous Air Max 1 release celebrated this athlete’s achievements but that style was way more colourful. Now, we have this darker rendition to look forward to.

Other than the premium materials throughout, there’s a unique detail which sets this shoe apart from the rest. Of course, it’s that Skull & Crossbones motif which comes stamped to the tongue. It’s a subtle nod to Marshfield High School where Steve spent most of his formative years. Their college team known as The Pirates are immortalised onto this iconic Nike shoe.

Soft leather and suede come together on this shoe with a contrasting white midsole underfoot. To complete the look, a black coloured Air Unit features in the heel and a sticky black outsole keeps you glued across all surfaces.
