The Nike Air Max 97 is one of the most revolutionary Air Max models in history. Created by Christian Tresser, the Air Max 97 took design elements from Japanese bullet trains to mould the sleek shape of the shoe. Water ripples influenced the wavy panels around the mesh upper of the shoe. The AM97 is the first Air Max shoe to feature a full-length visible Air unit. Ironically, it’s also the first sneaker to hide the eyestays inside the upper. Its 25th anniversary in 2022 saw the return of OG colourways like the Silver Bullet and Atlantic Blue. This colourway dons USA colours of white, red, and blue. White makes up the leather mudguard, while red comprises the mid panel and Swoosh on the sides. Blue adorns the rest of the upper, including the waffle outsole. Reflective materials on the wavy lines appear in blue and white for a vibrant finish.
