Nike Terminator High Spelman College

For the fourth time, Nike honours several sponsored HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) with the Yardrunners 4.0 campaign. Coinciding with the event, the brand introduces five HBCU-inspired Terminator High colourways. This “Spelman College” edition pays homage to one of the oldest all-female HBCUs in the United States.

Part of the original Nike Yardrunners campaign in 2020, Spelman College alumna and entrepreneur Nina Edwards designed this commemorative Nike Terminator High colourway. The shoe has a greyscale makeover constructed in a smooth leather base and suede overlays. Light blue hues contrast the neutral-toned upper, bannered by the Swooshes on the sides. The “1881” label on the lateral forefoot represents the college’s founding year, while an embossed “Thy Name We Praise” statement sits on the heel portion of the left and right pair. Adding depth to the school pride, “Undaunted By The Fight” messages adorn the light blue laces. Meanwhile, the embroidered Spelman College branding decorates the tongue. The college’s jaguar mascot leaves its prints on the blue inner lining, while its paw marks appear on the sockliner and translucent rubber outsole.
