With the chunky dad shoe trend reemerging in the sneaker landscape, Nike quickly took advantage of the demand by bringing general release colourways of the Zoom Vomero 5. When the shoe first came out in 2011, the shoe didn’t really receive much attention. However, Dr. Samuel Ross’ A-COLD-WALL* collaboration in 2018 and 2019 boosted the hype of the shoe. Today, this extremely comfortable shoe is at the forefront of every Nike retro running shoe must-cop list. Looking like something straight out of the 90s, the Zoom Vomero 5 debuted in 2010. The shoe features a breathable mesh upper with ribbed TPU cages on the midfoot. Leather overlays comprise the rest of the structure, while a plastic heel counter brought more rear support. A pillowy soft Cushlon foam makes up the entire midsole, with Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel for a bouncy cushioning sensation. Completing the design is the flexible waffle sole intended for running.

This colourway features burgundy tones on the mesh and ribbed midfoot cages with pink textile overlays. The Nike Swooshes has a burgundy fill with a white outline to stand out. Cushlon and Air Zoom branding adorn the midsole, appearing in white, burgundy, and pink to highlight the technology. Nike honours co-founder Bill Bowerman with a special sockliner featuring his portrait and a Bowerman Series label.
