After a great collab on the 610T last year, Aminé and New Balance are back with a new sneaker to brighten up the dreary winter days. Named after Aminé's high school, Benson Tech in Portland, this shoe is a tribute to the school's radio program, which kickstarted his writing and rapping journey. Aminé also announced on Instagram a $25,000 donation to help radio program grads with college costs.
Similar to his previous collabs, this latest sneaker sports a mix of contrasting colours. You get the blue overlays on a persimmon orange mesh, echoing the high school’s colours. Benson Tech references are everywhere, with the school's logo on the back tab, tongue, and insole. Even the shoebox is a nod to Aminé's teen years, designed like a computer decked out with Benson Tech themed stickers and a pamphlet of his achievements.
The tongue of this edition has the inscription, “Club Banana Research. Benson Poly Tech. BTEE 740. Class of 2012. Radio KBPS,” which shows the shoe's inspiration. Inside, there's a crest graphic that goes along with the theme printed on the tongue. The outsole features an abstract version of Aminé’s signature.
Known as one of the most stylish rappers, Aminé has been a New Balance ambassador since last year and has featured in campaigns for both New Balance and Crocs. With this latest release, the rapper and NB revisit the 2010 model with outdoor inspired touches like rope laces and toggle closures.
The Aminé x New Balance 740v2 Benson Tech is set for global launch on 8th November, at a retail price of £120. Tap the bell icon above, and we'll let you know as soon as these hit the stores.
