Whatever you think of Travis Scott, it’s hard to deny the impact that the rapper has had on the fashion industry over the past couple of years. Prior to the tragic Astroworld incident in 2021, Scott had already collaborated on a couple of silhouettes with Nike, made merch with Virgil Abloh, and was set to release a capsule collection with Kim Jones at Dior. After disaster struck, Scott’s upcoming Nike and Dior collaborations were temporarily postponed, but now the luxury fashion house looks to be following the Swoosh brand’s lead in picking up the partnership again in the latter half of 2022.
With Scott being no stranger to footwear collabs, it was unsurprising to see a new sneaker previewed alongside the clothing collection at Dior’s SS22 show, but now we're finally able to take a better look at the Travis Scott x Dior B713. Inspired by skate shoes, Scott’s latest sneaker takes on a much chunkier aesthetic than his sleek Jordan 1s, although the neutral-inspired colour palettes remain similar.
The Travis Scott x Dior sneakers are set to arrive in “Beige” and “Brown” colourways, and come constructed from a luxurious combination of nubuck, leather and canvas. For the “Brown” colourway, a “Mocha”-style shade saturates the majority of the shoe, with a dark brown panel wrapping its way around the lower part of the sneaker. The “Beige” colourway swaps out the dark brown for a tan-coloured option, whilst the rest of the uppers arrive in cream-coloured leather and canvas.
Bright pops of colour can be seen poking out from the sock liners, and both pairs feature thick woven tongues and flat laces to match the skate shoe aesthetic. Reworked Dior logos appear on the heels, tongues and eyestays, and chunky white and gum sole units add the perfect finishing touches.
The Travis Scott x Dior B713 sneakers are expected to drop at Dior sometime over the coming weeks, so be sure to keep it locked to The Sole Supplier any news of a wider release, as we'll be the first to let you know as we hear more!
In other fashion news, Ye has appointed Steven Smith as Head of Donda Industrial Design.
