Updated 11/10/23: It doesn ’t seem too long ago that we were gearing up for the release of the Air Jordan 1 Chicago “Lost & Found”, but here we are a year later, patiently waiting for the brand’s next Reimagined drop. Though it’s certainly not as hyped as its predecessor, there’s a good reason to get excited for the “Royal Reimagined” Air Jordan 1 - we haven’t seen a “Royal” retro since 2017 and with plenty of OG colourways set to drop over the next few months, it's an easy way to build out the collection.
While its predecessor simply took on an aged look, the AJ1 “Royal Reimagined” sees Jordan’s first signature model swap its usual leather build for soft suede, which seems to be the reason that sneakerheads have mixed feelings about this pair. That being said, next year’s “Bred Reimagined” AJ4 swaps out nubuck for leather - and really, isn’t that what “reimagining” something is all about?
From what we’ve seen so far, the “Royal Reimagined” will still make a solid addition to any rotation, and the suede build is looking pretty good quality too. For a closer look, be sure to check out the official images below, and scroll for the original article and in-hands.
Up next, here are the other Jordan retros dropping this season.
Original Article: Jordan Brand’s Reimagined series has been a hit with fans over the past few months, but so far, no pair has managed to quite live up to the hype of the “Lost & Found” Chicago AJ1. However, as the imprint continues to roll out its reimagined retros of iconic colourways, it's only a matter of time before another finds its feet, and with a new AJ1 on the way, could this be the “Lost & Found’s” rightful successor?
As it stands, the new Air Jordan 1 High “Royal Reimagined” has managed to divide opinions. Though the colourway itself is iconic (the colour combo was reported to be one of MJ’s favourites) the reimagination of the sneaker sees the pair swap out smooth leather panels for a new suede build. “Royal Blue” accents dress the collars, Swooshes, lower heels and toeboxes, while the remaining parts of the shoe take on a pitch-black hue.
While the pair sticks to its original colour blocking, the difference in material does make it feel like less of a true retro, but the pair still remains a pretty solid option in itself. Right now, the “Royal Reimagined” Air Jordan 1 High is expected to drop on the 4th of November, so be sure to hit those release reminders now and stay locked for more info and imagery as it comes in.
