Have a look at this new bit of kit from Nike. They're having a proper go at the “style mixed with utility” trainer scene, the one Salomon's been doing rather well in. To get in on the action, Nike's teamed up with South Korea's Hyein Seo, and they've cooked up an entirely new trainer.
Meet the Ava Rover, Nike’s brand new running style trainer, and it's a bit different from what you usually see. Okay, it does nod a bit to some past Nike efforts, especially bits from their ACG and ISPA ranges. But this newcomer has its own thing going on.
The Ava Rover is smart and pared back, quite the fashion statement, really. Makes sense that the sportswear giants called on the well regarded Korean brand Hyein Seo to launch it.
By the way, if you want to stay on top of all the big trainer releases, you need to grab The Sole Supplier app.
This sort of thing is pretty standard practice for Nike, getting their fashion mates involved to give their new models a boost. They did it with Nigel Sylvester, who helped launch the Air Jordan 4 RM, a skate inspired take on the classic Jordan 4. Streetwear circles warmly received the Air Max DN, thanks to Supreme's involvement.
However, the Ava Rover is taking a different route, benefiting from the Hyein Seo touch and debuting in a subtle, predominantly monochromatic colourway dubbed "Sequoia/Black Cacao Khaki."
Looking underneath, the Ava Rover’s really interesting construction comes to life. The trainer incorporates a substantial, shaped sole unit constructed with Nike's ReactX Foam, the same high performance cushioning present in their well regarded Rejuven8 recovery trainers and various running footwear. On the bottom, the Nike trainer has rectangular grooves, which will likely give you excellent grip and overall stability.
The uppers are just as textured and appealing, with a mix of smooth sections alongside these "pixelated" details on the mudguards.
The Nike Ava Rover trainer should be dropping in three colourways: "Blue Sage," "Black," and "Black/Anthracite." Keep your eyes peeled for this new Nike shoe around the 25th of July at Nike, all priced at £120. Make sure you hit that notification bell, and we'll let you know the moment they land.
