We’ve all been there. When you buy some crisp, clean new laces for your favourite pair of sneakers but can’t quite get them laced perfectly. Lacing up your Nike Air Force 1 from scratch can be particularly tricky business because of the asymmetric placement of the holes.
But worry not, ladies and gents. Because we’ve got a play-by-play of how to lace up your sneaks with no fuss at all. It takes just a dash of time, a pinch of patience and a spoonful of concentration.
How to Lace Air Force 1s Lacing up your sneakers can be a little tricky, especially if you're trying to re-lace a pair of Air Force 1. We've created this step-by-step guide to help you perfectly lace up your favourite shoes!

Step 1: Thread laces through the top of the first hole ensuring that the excess lace is evenly measured. Make sure you’re following the “over-under” method (pictured) so that you get started correctly, as otherwise the whole sneaker will be laced incorrectly. It’s also important that you’ve measured an equal distance for each side of the lace, otherwise it will be lopsided, look uneven and be hard to tie properly! The best way to do this is to pull either side of your laces upwards and make sure they match up.

Step 2: Now cross over the laces and thread them through the top of the second lace hole. Next up, you need to pick which side of the sneaker you will take the first lace through, as you’ll then continue to follow this pattern for the whole shoe to keep things consistent. When it comes to the second sneaker, you should mirror the pattern you choose in order to make the look even neater.

Step 3: Repeat step two on the third lace hole. Repeat the process here and remember to keep the laces totally flat at all times when lacing your Nike Air Force 1s, as any twists will ruin the cleanliness of the look and also make it more difficult as you get further up the shoe. Remember not to pull them too tight, you want to leave plenty of space, as over-tightening your laces will make the sneakers look worse and crease faster.

Step 4: Thread the laces through the tab in the tongue to keep it firmly in place. Once you reach the tongue tab, gently thread the laces through following the pattern that you chose at the start, this will help keep them secure when on foot. Again, avoid any twists here as it can be commonplace. Some people like to avoid the tongue tab completely, which is possible and will give the sneakers an even looser look, this is totally down to personal preference.

Step 5: Tie the laces in a bow or tuck them in and you're good to go! Once you reach the top of the lace holes (some people prefer to leave one of even two holes empty), you’re ready to tie your laces to secure your sneakers firmly on foot. Tie a loose bow to ensure they won’t slip off but avoid over-tightening as it can cause discomfort. Many sneakerheads will opt to leave their laces untied for an ever more relaxed look, but once again this is a personal choice, we suggest trying both to see how they look and feel!
Now that you're shoes are all laced up you're ready to go! All thats left to do is to complete your outfit with some Nike clothing .
