Jae Tips has truly cemented his position in the trainer world over the past few years. He's not just producing captivating footwear with an unexpected partner like Saucony; he's also revitalised how brands launch projects and engage with fans in person. He consistently picks the perfect moment to unveil his new collaborations, and his latest reveal came in mid May.
Hass from @MyFirstKicksPod captured and shared the trainers on social media, showing them off for the first time at Complex's Family Style Food Festival in New York City. Jae Tips hadn't publicly confirmed this trainer as his next project, but a closer inspection of other jointly branded Saucony ProGrid Triumph 4 pairs certainly confirms it.
Much like his previous work, these unreleased collaborations showcase a diverse array of eye catching colours across the classic running silhouette. A salmon like pink energises the majority of one pair's mesh upper, while the second style we saw features a striking red shade. The project, teased just before June's Paris Fashion Week, also incorporates frosty blue and energetic neon green, reinforcing a design approach the Bronx creative frequently employs. The side branding on both trainers is paired with an embroidered flower, courtesy of the SAVIOR WORLDWIDE imprint. Additional purple and green versions further highlight the botanical theme.
Elsewhere, sections of olive green cover the synthetic panels on the original ProGrid Triumph 4's upper, which first appeared on the market in 2007. A cream coloured midsole sits underfoot, and a previously unseen leaf emblem takes its place on the top of the tongue in various colours.
On 24th June, the Bronx based creative took to Instagram, giving us the clearest view yet of his sixth partnership with Saucony Originals. This range, provisionally titled 'Flowers Grow Uptown', includes at least four unique, floral decorated iterations of the classic running shoe. Together, each trainer serves as a powerful reminder that beauty and success can blossom even in the most challenging conditions.
Previewed at both the London and New York pop-ups, the first pairs should launch on Friday 10th October, with a retail price of £170. For your best chance at securing these at retail, make sure you hit that 'Notify me' button.
