During a 2020 episode of Nick Cannon's "Cannon's Class" web series, Kanye West stated, "Man I was just thinking, in my adidas contract, I definitely should be able to wear Jordans. Jordans need to be part of reparations. You can't tell a Black man not to wear Jordans. It should be in any deal. And also, you can wear your friend's clothes." We don't know what's going behind the scenes over at Yeezy at the moment, but who would've thought that two years later, Jordan Brand's own Larry Miller would go on public record to say that the company is still open to collaborating with Ye.
Speaking on NPR's The Limits with Jay Williams for his new book, the Jumpman chairman revealed that he wished West was still with Nike. "I think he's an incredibly creative and talented person. I wish he had stayed with Nike, that would have been great. I can't say that will not happen, I don’t know that it will, but I can't say that it won’t happen, that we would at some point be able to do something with Kanye. I can't say that it’s absolutely not going to happen."
This bold statement comes less than two week after Kanye posted the iconic Jumpman logo on his Instagram with zero context. Many sneakerheads are wondering if he's just showing a bit of love to Michael Jordan's brand, or if it signifies something even bigger. Whatever that may be, you can bet that The Sole Supplier will be the very first to let you know. Let us know what you think of this news, and while you're here, here's when you can cop the Air Jordan 4 "Military Black"!
