The sneaker industry is going through a major shake up. Yesterday, adidas Executive Eric Liedtke , the man responsible for recruiting Kanye West, Beyoncé and Pharrell, left the company. On the same day, Under Armour Founder Kevin Plank left his post as CEO, and to top it all off, Nike President and CEO Mark Parker just stepped down, now assuming an Executive Chairman position within the Beaverton brand.
Parker has been the company's CEO since 2006, later taking up the President & CEO mantel in 2016. Within the past thirteen years , the Oregon-based imprint has seen a ton of changes and developments, being crowned the world's most valuable fashion brand multiple times and dropping some of the most coveted collaborations in the game, including those from Virgil Abloh , Travis Scott , and Hiroshi Fujiwara , to name a few.
Parker has already appointed his successor, choosing John Donahoe to take up his role. A board member since 2014, Donahoe said in an official statement: “It is an honor to become President and CEO of this amazing, innovative company, and to join the more than 76,000 talented and passionate employees dedicated to serving athletes."
With changes set to become effective on January 13th , Mark Parker will continue to lead Nike’s Board Of Directors until then. Arguably one of the main reason's that Nike is the brand it is today, only time will tell how this will affect the company, but for now, make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for the latest and greatest sneaker news and releases!
