One of history's most iconic sneakers is making a comeback after almost four decades. The predecessor to what we now know as the Air Jordan 1, Michael Jordan's legendary Nike Air Ship Pro is returning in "Bred" - the original colourway that was banned by the NBA back in the '80s.
While rumours of this have been floating around since the start of the year, it's now been officially confirmed. Painted in the signature black and red colour palette, the Air Ship Pro is done up completely in premium leather that's smooth to the touch. While its classic design has been fully retained, the Swoosh has infused the midsole with contemporary React foam cushioning for comfort that knows no bounds.
"Air Jordan" branding adorns the heel, and the shoe itself comes in a vintage style box that mirrors the OG, which as we mentioned before were pretty controversial back in MJ's early days. During the 1984-85 NBA preseason, the National Basketball Association fined His Airness $5,000 every time he wore them for violating the league's stringent uniform policy.
If you want the Nike Air Ship Pro "Bred" in your life then you've got to listen up. From August 1st to August 6th, Back-Door Bottega have placed 150 stickers across iconic landmarks in Bologna, Italy. Sneakerheads will need to find these where they'll be presented with a QR code to enter a raffle. We have no idea if a wider release is planned, so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops! While you're here, you might as well take your first look Union LA x Air Jordan 4 SP "Guava Ice"!
