As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to worry the globe and place a financial burden on citizens everywhere, Nike is stepping forward to donate money to battle the spread of COVID-19 and help those who are most in need. Despite the fact that the Oregon-born brand is temporarily shutting down its stores, Nike is pledging over $15m to help.
10 million dollars of the huge donation comes directly from Shoe Dog author and Nike Co-founder Phil Knight and his wife Penny, the Chairman of the Board, Mark, and his wife and, of course, CEO John and Eileen Donahoe. The money will be split between the Oregon Health & Science University, the Oregon Community Recovery Fund and the Oregon Food Bank. So, not only will the incredible donation from Nike improve care and testing for those with Coronavirus, it’ll also give people most in need access to food.
If that’s not enough, Nike has also revealed that they will match any donation that supports areas where Nike employees live. It’s not clear exactly how they’ll match it, but we expect more announcements from the brand soon.
In other news, the UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Max 90 “Black” is launching soon.
