Nike is poised to make a significant impact at this year’s ComplexCon, not merely as a participant but as a central feature of the event. Attendees will get an exclusive sneak peek at the future of sneaker innovation, culture, and storytelling through immersive experiences. One highlight of Nike's presentation will be the launch of the Nike Air Max 1000, a groundbreaking 3D printed sneaker that’s set to redefine the Air Max legacy.
Since introducing visible Air cushioning with the Air Max 1 in 1987, Nike has used Air technology as both an aesthetic signature and an innovation marker, initially in performance and later in lifestyle contexts. In 2024, the Air Max legacy enters a new phase with the Air Max 1000 developed in collaboration with 3D footwear-printing experts at Zellerfeld.
The first version of the Air Max 1000 features a striking all red colour, showing off the sculptural design of its laceless 3D-printed upper. The shoe mixes smooth and textured prints, with smooth areas on the toe box and midfoot, and textured, carbon fibre like surfaces on the throat, lower half, and toe cap. Branding is minimal, featuring just one debossed Swoosh, and the clear Air chamber in the heel shows off the shoe’s internal structure.
John Hoke, Nike's Chief Innovation Officer, shared his excitement for the new model, saying, “What’s most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing.” The Air Max 1000 marks a new chapter in the evolution of Air technology, blending the precision of modern manufacturing with the creativity of innovative design.
