Louis Vuitton’s search for a successor has come to a close, as Pharrell Williams has been confirmed as the next in line to head up the fashion house. Initially reported by the Wall Street Journal, the news follows the brand’s Men’s Fashion Week presentation in January, which was guest designed by KidSuper.
The house, which is no stranger to buzzy names, is currently considered to be the biggest luxury brand in the world, making over $20 billion in revenue. Having welcomed Virgil Abloh with open arms in 2018, Louis Vuitton took on a streetwear-focused, fashion-forward approach: a design language that Pharrell will slot into nicely now the appointment has gone ahead. His first show will take place in June.
A regular on the Fashion Week circuit, Williams is the co-founder of Billionaire Boys Club, alongside Nigo - who currently heads up LVMH brand Kenzo. Williams also has a longstanding partnership with adidas (which calls the future of LV’s partnership with Nike into question) and has previously collaborated with Moncler, Diesel and Chanel.
