The legendary NMD is about to get its biggest facelift since the City Sock from 2017. A silhouette that's been kicking around for almost six years, the Three Stripes' legendary Nomad shoe was the subject of much hype when it first launched back in 2015. In fact, sneakerheads were paying on upwards of £1000 for the OG pair when it first launched. While excitement surrounding the model has certainly died down over the years, it looks like it's set to return with the official announcement of the adidas NMD S1 "White".
One of the craziest adidas sneakers in recent memory, the "White" was first teased back in June when Pharrell Williams uploaded a photo of himself rocking a pair. With a sock-like Primeknit upper that's stretchy for a comfortable fit, a fortified collar adds support and structure to the shoe, similar to what you'd find on the Yeezy 450.
An in-built lacing system harkens back to the original NMD R1, while monofilament mesh sidewalls greatly resemble the Yeezy Boost 350 V2.
Of course, you can't talk about this brand new model without mentioning the extra chunky Boost midsole underfoot. Featuring embedded EVA plugs and a ton of technical verbiage for a deconstructed aesthetic, the highlight has got to be the series of Trefoil logos that make up the rubber outsole underneath. While this might seem like a new design, it's actually taken from the Marathon trainer which made its debut all the way back in the '80s.
A release date for the adidas Originals NMD S1 "Cloud White" has yet to be officially announced, but these will definitely come out before the end of the year. Let us know what you think of this brand new silhouette, and while you're here, you might as well spy the James Bond x adidas Ultra Boost Collection right here!
