Water is wet, grass is green, and even now in 2022, Supreme is continuing to resell at some eye-watering prices. Listen, having been fans of streetwear and sneakers for quite some time now, we're no stranger to the idea of reselling, but jeez, Supreme is still managing to take it to a new level, and it's somewhat perplexing.
Amidst the potential supply chain shortages, questionable collabs and decline of brand popularity (according to GoogleTrends search volume anyway), Supreme is still seemingly dominating the resell market. If you're a non-believer, one look at the likes of StockX or Grailed will surely change your mind.
So with all that said, we've decided to recount some of the more financially substantial Supreme items to ever release over the years. From the industry-breaking Supreme x Louis Vuitton collab to some of the brand's more subtle items, we'll be taking a look at some of our favourites.
Spring/Summer 2017 saw the release of the Supreme x Coleman Mini Bike, a small-framed pit bike, ideal for gaining clout at the local dirt track. This bike features a 196cc one-cylinder four-stroke OHV engine alongside a small frame draped in (you guessed it) Supreme's signature red hue and white logo combo.
The rumour is only 100 of these bikes were made worldwide, so it comes as no surprise that they command a hefty price tag. The current cheapest listing for this item is $2,700 (£2,006) on Grailed, but one is currently estimated at a staggering 50,000-70,000 HKD (£4,764-£6,669) on the Sotheby's auction website.
Ideal for any streetwear-loving pugilist, the Supreme x Everlast Heavy Bag was first launched as part of SS16's array of accessories. This 70lb punching bag comes complete with a large supreme logo, triple-reinforced ring tabs and a reinforced filling. Despite its status as a collector's item, this piece is both functional and durable.
The piece retailed at $543 (£402) and is now valued between 80,000-120,000 HKD (£7,600-£11,398) on Sotheby's. Despite this massive figure, one lucky buyer did manage to pick one up for $1475 (£1,093) on Grailed, meaning a good price can still be found if you're willing to look hard enough.
At some point in 2005, Supreme used the hit HBO show 'The Sopranos' for inspiration on one of its famed box logos. To the untrained eye, this T-Shirt might look like your standard knock-off or rip, but on closer inspection, you will notice a gun in place of the regular 'r' on the logo. This, of course, is a nod to 'The Sopranos' logo that pioneered the signature.
Only 100 T-Shirts were ever made, and one surfaced back on Grailed around 4 years ago under the user account 'seattle_supreme' listed at the price of $5,400 (£4,000). It's unclear exactly how much the T-Shirt sold for, but the last bid was rumoured to be just under $4,000 (£2,966). Currently, two other lightly used Sopranos Box Logo T-Shirts are available on the site commanding $1,512 (£1,121) & $2,430 (£1,802) price tags.
In 2009, Supreme revisited their relationship with legendary English artist Damien Hirst for a quintette of skateboard decks. Each of the 5 decks features a basic spotted pattern on the display side, as well as a range of provocative logos on the top of each piece.
Given Hirst's huge following, it comes as no surprise these pieces would command such a weighty fee. Currently, the full untouched set is available for $12,000 (£8,885) on Grailed, which some might say is a small price to pay for any work of Damien Hirst.
In 2017, Supreme x Fender joined forces to create the ultimate grail for any streetwear fan with a musical side. The pair worked together on a classic Fender Stratocaster guitar complete with a clean white body and of course the signature and contrasting Supreme box logo. As expected, the guitar is fully playable and even comes with a black hard case, complete with a crushed red velvet interior.
Currently, prices are ranging from around $6,500 (£4,800) to $10,000 (£7,400), but these guitars have reportedly sold for as high as $15,000 (£11,100) in the past.
In 2018, Supreme joined forces with arcade game company Stern to produce a handful of collaborative pinball machines. These full-sized pinball machines come dressed in a bright white hue accented by the brand's signature red tone and logo. The interior of the machine sports a range of Supreme logos also set across the machine's components.
Despite only being released back in '18, these machines are very tough to come by, so naturally, they command an eye-watering price tag. One was sold without reserve on Sotheby's auction website for between 400,000 HKD (£37,866) - 600,00HKD (£56,799). Even if you do have the cash to purchase this grail, you might find some difficulty. One Reddit user even said that they were "willing to fly and pick up" the machine as long as it was still fully boxed.
It might come as no surprise that the most expensive items on this list are part of Supreme's legendary collaboration with Louis Vuitton. For SS17, the two brands joined to produce an extensive collection of goods with clothing and accessories on offer, with select items from the collection now being some of the highest-priced grails of all time. First up from these offerings, we have the Supreme x Louis Vuitton skateboard. This deck arrived in Supreme's signature red hue with the LV monogram pattern displayed all over.
It also featured a matching cowhide leather hard case to store and protect the item. Only 10 of these decks were ever made, so it might come as no surprise that these collector's pieces now sell for a confirmed price of $88,200 (£65,122). Surprisingly, one of these decks is still available to buy from Crepslocker, but unless you have £125,000 spare, don't get your hopes up.
Topping the list as the most expensive Supreme item of all time, we have the Supreme x Louis Vuitton Malle Courier 90 Trunk. Only three of these pieces are known to exist in the world, and they were only offered exclusively to VIP customers of Louis Vuitton.
The trunk first launched alongside the aforementioned skate deck as part of Supreme's collaboration with Louis Vuitton for SS17. The piece itself sports an all-over Louis Vuitton monogram print alongside a Supreme logo on the front face. The piece also features wood panelling and silver studded detailing.
One of the three known trunks was auctioned at Christie's Auction House in 2017 and ended up selling for a whopping $125,000 (£92,256), making it the highest-selling piece of Supreme of all time.
