Whenever an anime collab hits the newsroom at The Sole Supplier, we get excited. From the recent Yu-Gi-Oh! x Nike Air Max 95 and clothing capsule to 2018's Dragon Ball Z x adidas collection, the sneaker scene loves an anime cultural clash.
After rumours of a Tn collaboration swirled late last year, Nike has now confirmed its long-awaited partnership with One Piece via @dotswoosh. The reveal took the form of a Poneglyph installation in the streets of Tokyo, unveiling a devil fruit hidden behind the iconic white swoosh.
Unlike previous One Piece sneaker collabs which focused only on specific characters, Nike is cooking up three themed Nike TN Air Max Plus colourways inspired by the Ope Ope, Mera Mera, and Gomu Gomu Fruits, each instead spotlighting some of One Piece’s most iconic powers.
First up, we have the One Piece x Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Mera / Portas D. Ace'. This one is (literally) fire, channeling the legacy of Portgas D. Ace with a molten gradient upper. If our visions become a reality, we think this one could be a definite fan favourite, perhaps taking inspiration from the previously popular Nike TN Air Max Plus Tiger Orange.
The next rumoured item in the collection is the Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Ope’ / Trafalgar D. Law, bringing deep burgundy accents to the pair. We think the subtle swirl detailing throughout the upper will mirror the iconic Devil Fruit surface - A subtle nod to the anime for the real One Piece fans out there.
The release timing lines up well too. The One Piece TCG is still riding high globally, so a Nike collab lands right in that wave of hype. Nike's done this before: the Yu-Gi-Oh collaboration came with a physical trading card in every box, and it wouldn't be a stretch to see something similar here, maybe a Poneglyph or devil fruit card tucked inside. Nothing's confirmed beyond the teaser, and we've only seen mockups, but if Nike leans into the crossover properly, this could end up being the collab of the year.
The final item in the collection and with the potential of becoming the main character of the collaboration is the Nike TN Air Max Plus ‘Gomu’ / Monkey D. Luffy. This pair certainly brings all of Luffy's main character energy to the collection. Dressed in a bold purple / yellow colourway that nods to Luffy’s signature look, this colourway echoes the bounce and flex of his Gomu Gomu powers.
With a Fall 2026 release on the horizon, anticipation is already building, and if our predicted mockups are anything to go by, this could be one of the year's most sought-after Air Max Plus drops. Word is, a full apparel range is on the horizon, with jerseys, caps, and tees all set to join the crew. Whether the designs will tap into the iconic Devil Fruits is still under wraps, but keep it locked as we'll keep you in the loop as more details surface.
The fact that the teaser was posted through Nike Japan's regional channels leaves the project's availability up in the air. It could point towards a Japan-exclusive release, but we at The Sole Supplier believe the pack will receive a global launch. Keep it locked and set your reminders for your best chance to cop.
